Why a day

The Yacht Show is four days long and most visitors do not need four days of it. A broker has a morning of meetings; a buyer has three boats to walk; a supplier has one stand to see and one dinner to avoid. For them, the trip's cost is not the flight but the two nights and the two days around it. A day return removes those, and it is the reason the aircraft waiting at Nice is a common sight in show week.

Eight and a half hours in Monaco, door to door under fourteen. In a midsize jet the flight is five minutes shorter each way and the cabin has room to work on the way home.

What it costs

A day return is two flown sectors plus a day's parking at Nice — the structure the return-leg guide calls the cheapest for a short gap, because nothing positions. From published 2026 rate bands plus trip costs:

Add the helicopter for the party both ways and a day's parking in show week, which is higher than a normal Tuesday. Against that, no hotel in Monaco during the show, no second day out of the diary, and a return that leaves when you are done rather than when a schedule says.

Light or midsize for the day

For four people with hand luggage the light jet is the obvious choice and the cheaper one. Six with bags, or anyone who wants to open a laptop on the way home, moves the argument to the midsize: a cabin you can stand up in, a table that seats four, and five minutes less in the air each way. On a day return the difference per head is modest — the table above shows it — and the working cabin is usually worth it for a trade visit.

When the day trip is the wrong plan

For one or two people it is not the economical choice; a scheduled flight and a night in Nice is a fraction of the cost, and we will say so. It is also the wrong plan if the visit is social rather than working — a dinner aboard at nine does not fit a helicopter at six. And on the Saturday, when the show closes early and every visiting aircraft wants the same afternoon slot, it is the wrong day.

For four to eight people with a morning of meetings and a diary that cannot spare two days, it is the right one, and it is what the waiting aircraft at Nice are for. The route is already in the form; add the day and the headcount.

Which day?

Not the Saturday, when the show closes early and the departure slots are contested. Wednesday or Thursday is the trade; Friday is the busiest for visitors. For meetings with brokers and yards, Wednesday. The helicopter slot at Fontvieille is the item to secure first for any day.
